West Liberty, W.Va. - The West Liberty University men's basketball team fought off a sloppy first half performance to pull away from Charleston in the second half and win 76-70 over the Golden Eagles.
The Toppers are now 9-0 overall and 4-0 in Mountain East Conference play. WLU shot just 28 percent in the opening half and trailed 30-27 at the break.
Trailing 47-43 with 10:50 remaining in the game West Liberty went on a 17-2 run to take control of the game 60-49. The win snaps a three game losing streak for WLU against UC.
Kyler D'Agustino led the Toppers with 17 points, five assists and four steals. Lanyc Shuler added 12 points, four rebounds and three steals while Dante Spadafora finished with 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Up next the Hilltoppers will travel to face West Virginia State Saturday at 7:30 p.m. before their two game trip to Las Vegas.
