West Liberty Returns From Their Bye Week To Host Concord

West Liberty,W.Va. The West Liberty University football team returns from their bye week to host Concord Saturday at West Family Stadium. The series between the two schools is the third longest in program history, dating back to the first meeting in 1930 a 27-0 Hilltoppers win. 

WLU and the Mountain Lions have met 81 times with the Toppers holding a 40-38-3 edge. The only two opponents the Hilltoppers have faced more are Fairmont State (89) and Glenville State (84). 

West Liberty won last year's meeting 23-21 at Callaghan Stadium. The Toppers secured the  victory on the final play of the game as Rudy Garcia found Rashawn Harvey on a ten-yard touchdown pass as time expired. Both teams have struggled to start the year West Liberty and Concord both enter the match up at 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the Mountain East Conference.

  •  Trent Crawford and Taison Fa'Asuamanu lead West Liberty in total tackles with 23, Nolan Shimp is second with 20. 

  • Tyler Waddell is 4-4 on field goals this season with a long of 39 yards. 

  • West Liberty is 6th in scoring in the MEC at 23.5 points per game , Concord is averaging 10.3

  • West Liberty is 2nd in the MEC in passing offense at 249 yards per game, Concord's defense is 6th against the pass at 210 yards per game and 7 touchdowns
