West Liberty Travels To UNC-Pembroke

West Liberty,W.Va. - The West Liberty University football team returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. at Grace P. Johnson Stadium as they visit UNC-Pembroke. The Hilltoppers are coming off of an impressive 31-10 win over Concord where they racked up 238 yards rushing averaging six yards per carry, as an offense they finished the day with 392 total yards. The Hilltoppers defense picked off two Mountain Lion passes and the special teams blocked a punt.

 The Braves earned their first win of the season last week 35-32 over Wheeling at Bishop Schmitt. UNC-P threw for 398 yards and four scores against the Cardinals, but they also threw three interceptions; they finished with 547 yards of total offense. The Hiltoppers are 1-5 all-time against the Braves.

  • Trent Crawford is first in forced fumbles (4) in the MEC fourth in TFL (7), seventh in total tackles (32)

  • Zach Vincenti is tied for sixth in TFL (5) and sacks (2) in the MEC 

  • Delano Marcelus is the reigning Mountain East Conference special teams player of the week , he blocked and recovered a punt in the Hilltoppers win over Concord, he is also fifth in the MEC in sacks (2.5)

  • UNC-P is fourth in total defense in the Mountain East Conference (385.6) and seventh in total offense (336.8)

  • Sincere Baines is 11th in rushing (36.8) in the MEC, 14th in yards (184) and sixth in touchdowns (2) 

  • Colin Johnson is fifth in the MEC in passing yards (189.6), fifth in yards (948) , fourth in touchdowns (9) and first in interceptions (10)

  • Josiah Hayes is first in the MEC in receiving touchdowns (6), seventh in yards (330) and seventh in yards per game (66)

  • Jamae Blank in second in the MEC in sacks (4), tied for fifth in TFL (5.5)

The Hilltoppers will return home for homecoming on Oct.19 when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for a 1 p.m. kickoff at West Family Stadium
