Ashland, Ohio – The West Liberty University men's and women's track & field teams saw three more school records fall in Saturday's Ashland Invitational, highlighted by
Hunter Patterson and
Mikhi Anderson. Patterson re-broke his own record in the 200m dash set just one week ago and tied his own record in the 60m dash set last spring, while Anderson re-broke his own record set in the 60m hurdles at the season-opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- Daminn Cunningham started the day with a top-10 finish in the long jump for West Liberty, hitting a mark of 6.57m (21' 6.75") for seventh place overall.
- Quinn Ashbrooke recorded a ninth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 12.17m (39' 11.25") and was followed by AJ Cherico with a jump of 11.27m (36' 11.75") for 11th place.
- Reese Burnside led a trio of Hilltoppers who earned top-10 finishes in the pole vault, recording a mark of 4.46m (14' 7.5") for fifth place. Julius Hobbs and Nate Lucas tied for eighth place with vaults of 3.86m (12' 8").
- George Donovic and Cunningham earned a pair of top-10 finishes in the high jump with marks of 1.86m (6' 1.25") and 1.81m (5' 11.25") for ninth and tenth place.
- John Brown led the Hilltoppers in the weight throw with an 11th place mark of 14.04m (46' 0"). Joshua Fancher added another top-20 finish with a throw of 13.61m (44' 8") for 17th place.
- Fancher earned a top-10 finish in the shot put as he recorded a mark of 14.39m (47' 2.5") for eighth place, while Jordyn Dickerson secured an 18th place finish with a season-best throw of 13.29m (43' 7.25").
- Tyler Davis was the lone Hilltopper to compete in the first running event of the day for the Hilltoppers as he recorded a tenth place finish and time of 3:44.80 in the 1,200m run.
- Brody Cermak and Patrick Childers competed in the 5,000m run for WLU earning tenth and 12th place finishes with times of 16:10.61 and 17:57.41.
- Mikhi Anderson recorded the second fastest prelim time in the 60m hurdles, crossing the finish line in a school record time of 8.07. He then improved his school record time to 8.00 in the finals and remained second overall in the event.
- Hunter Patterson notched the top 60m dash time in the prelims at 6.90 and held on for the win in the finals by 0.01 seconds with a time of 6.88, tying his own school record time from last season. Lorenzo Ferrera just missed a top-10 finish in the event in 11th place with a time of 7.13.
- Arthur Williams was the top finisher in the 400m dash for WLU, running to a time of 51.78 and a 21st place finish.
- Tavian Richardson and Francis Toohey earned 17th and 18th place finishes in the 800m run for the Hilltoppers, crossing the line less than a second apart from one another with times of 2:00.32 and 2:00.57 respectively.
- Patterson earned his second top-10 finish of the day with a third place time of 21.90 in the 200m dash, breaking his own school record set just one week ago. He was followed by Ferrera with a season-best time of 22.34 in seventh place.
- Philip White ran to a fifth place finish in the 3,000m run with a time of 8:48.88, while Robert Allen was just outside the top-10 with an 11th place finish and a career-best time of 8:59.61.
- The team of Chase Pepper, Richardson, Toohey, and Williams gave WLU an 11th place finish in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:29.10 to close the meet.
HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- Sierra Lanham and Ky'Ara Ross recorded third and fourth place finishes in the long jump with marks of 5.43 (17' 9.75") and 5.42 (17' 9.5") respectively to start the day.
- Haley Norris held the top mark for the Hilltoppers in the weight throw, hitting a mark of 12.58m (41' 3") for 20th place overall.
- Kennedy Martin notched a top-10 finish in the shot put, recording a season-best toss of 12.28m (40' 3.5") for eighth place at the Ashland Invitational.
- To kickoff the running events, Morgan Lesnansky led a trio of Hilltoppers in the 1,200m run with a time of 4:18.22 and a fifth place finish. She was joined by Ally Hicks (4:32.57) and Emma Flynn (4:34.23) who finished sixth and seventh respectively.
- Marissa Scott was the highest placing West Liberty athlete in the 60m hurdle prelims, finishing 14th with a time of 9.91 while Hope Gestl was 18th with a season-best time of 10.31.
- The duo of Ross and Lanham were the top two Hilltoppers in the 60m dash prelims, finishing 14th and 17th respectively with times of 8.01 and 8.10. Ross set a season-best time in the event.
- Brookelyn Reynolds narrowly missed a top-10 finish in the 400m dash by 0.04 seconds, crossing the finish line 11th overall with a time of 1:03.07.
- Lacey Dimit was the lone competitor in the 800m run for West Liberty, recording a season-best time of 2:32.87 and a 22nd place finish.
- Abbe Stackpole ran the fastest time by a WLU athlete in the 200m dash with a time of 28.53 and a 34th place finish.
- Lesnansky paced the Hilltoppers with a top-10 finish in the 3,000m run, crossing the finish line tenth overall in a career-best time of 11:33.70. She was followed by Hicks (11:52.31) and Flynn (12:15.50) with 13th and 15th place finishes.
- The Hilltoppers closed the day with a time of 4:33.33 in the 4x400 relay by the team of Reynolds, Bailey Pack, Dimit, and Stackpole.
UP NEXT
The West Liberty track & field teams will return to New Concord, Ohio, for the second time this season as they will compete at the Muskie Meet #3 on Saturday, January 27. The field events will get under way at 11 a.m. while the running events will begin at 12 p.m. inside the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex.
