New Concord, Ohio - The West Liberty University men's and women's track & field teams saw success from their group of field athletes and pair of runners at Saturday's Muskingum Meet #1. The Hilltoppers recorded five event wins on the day and was highlighted by
Reese Burnside breaking his own school pole vault record as well as earning an NCAA Division II Provisional mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- Hunter Patterson made his season debut by posting the fastest 60m dash prelim time at 6.92 and improved the time to 6.89 with a victory in the finals.
- Patterson also won the 200m dash with a time of 22.30 in the event, which was latter converted to 21.91 and broke the school record.
- Joshua Fancher earned a seventh place finish in the men's shot put after a throw of 13.56m (44' 6"). Aidan Horan finished 12th in the event with a mark of 12.30m (40' 4.25") in his collegiate debut.
- Shane Anderson and Jacob Huffman finished 11th and 12th respectively in the long jump, recording marks of 5.32m (17' 5.5") and 5.31m (17' 5.25").
- Reese Burnside won the pole vault competition and broke his own school record with an NCAA Division II provisional mark of 4.80m (15' 9"). Julius Hobbs also recorded a fourth place finish and a career-best mark in the event with a vault of 4.10m (13' 5.25").
- John Brown earned the first place finish in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 16.10m (52' 10"). Fancher also notched his second top-10 finish of the day, turning in a sixth place throw of 14.29m (46' 10").
- Huffman cracked the top-10 in the high jump with a ninth place finish, recording a mark of 1.60m (5' 3").
HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
- Brookelyn Reynolds ran to a second place finish in the 500m dash with a time of 1:31.33.
- Haley Norris finished seventh overall in the weight throw after a toss of 12.64m (41' 5"). Â Kaylee Savage just missed the top-10 in the event with an 11th place finish and a mark of 12.09m (39' 8").
- Kennedy Martin won the shot put competition with a throw of 12.25m (40' 2.25"). Jennifer DiLullo also turned in a sixth place finish in her collegiate debut with a mark of 11.06m (36' 3.5").
UP NEXT
The West Liberty track & field teams will be in action once again next Saturday, January 20, when they travel to Ashland, Ohio, for the Ashland Invitational. The meet will begin at 10 a.m. inside the Niss Athletic Center.
