West Liberty, W.Va. – Approximately 40 high school level women's basketball players took to the hilltop on August 1, taking part in West Liberty University's Elite 3v3 Shootout. Of the athletes that participated in the 1-day event, the majority were highly skilled players who will have the opportunity to play at the next level in college.
During the shootout teams competed in 3v3 games in pool play and were then placed in a seeded bracket to crown a champion. Athletes in attendance were taught 3v3 the West Lib Way by head coach
Kyle Cooper, which allows players to showcase their talent in a team setting versus a traditional showcase or elite camp.
"I absolutely loved the way that this event has evolved over the last several years because it has truly become an elite camp the West Lib Way," stated Cooper. "Our coaching staff was extremely pleased with the level of talent in attendance and the competition was at another level and probably the best that we have seen."
Along with competing throughout the day, participants received education surrounding NCAA rules and eligibility as well as getting the opportunity to tour the facilities. Current West Liberty student-athletes also returned to campus to lead breakout sessions during the event.
