Greensboro, N.C. – West Liberty University senior Ty Helmke was selected to the 2023 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) NCAA Division II Atlantic Region All-Defensive Team, announced by the ABCA on Thursday afternoon.

Helmke, a native of Johnstown, Ohio, appeared and started in all 51 games for the Hilltoppers this past season. He posted a .986 fielding percentage with 140 putouts, six assists, two errors, and helped turn one double play. Helmke, a center fielder, was one of three outfielders selected to the all-region team. Last month he picked up his second career All-MEC honor after being selected to the second team, he previously earned first team honors in 2021.

Each region's all-defensive teams were voted on by members of the ABCA, with the process led by the ABCA NCAA Division II All-America Committee. Players that were selected to the ABCA NCAA Division II Region All-Defensive Teams were also eligible for ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove honors which were announced on Wednesday.
