CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Liberty University outfielder James Salvatori was named to the All-Tournament Team here Sunday night as the 2023 Mountain East Conference Baseball Tournament concluded at GoMart Ballpark.

    The sophomore left fielder from Wheeling Park High School was an offensive force for Coach Eric Burkle's Hilltoppers during their tournament run, which was highlighted by an 11-8 upset of top-seeded and No. 24-ranked Charleston in the tournament opener.

    Salvatori batted .462 with two singles, three doubles and a home run for an impressive .932 slugging percentage in West Liberty's three games. He played a major role in the upset win over UC, scoring three of the Hilltoppers' runs and driving in two more with a single, double and home run.

    He finished the season as the team's leading hitter with a .333 batting average bolstered by a .401 on-base percentage and a .465 slugging percentage.
