FROSTBURG, Md. - The No. 15 ranked West Liberty University acrobatics & tumbling team lost a nationally-ranked battle Friday night on the road at No. 12 ranked Frostburg State, 255.785 - 238.465.
The Bobcats won all six events and 18 of the 19 heats, as the sides tied at 7.850 in the quad pass tumbling heat. Frostburg State improves to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference action, while the Hilltoppers fall to 2-3 and 1-1 against MEC foes.
West Liberty stumbled out of the gates with a 6.95 in the compulsory acro heat and was unable to make up any ground. The Hilltoppers ended the first half with a 9.70 in the open pyramid, which turned out to be their highest score of the night.
Frostburg State added on to its lead with margins of 4.45 in the toss event and 4.55 in the tumbling event, the largest of the meet.
West Liberty will be back in action next Friday at King University in Tennessee for another nationally-ranked battle, its fourth of the season.
