BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - West Liberty's
Chase Morgan has been named the Mountain East Conference Wrestler of the Week, announced by the conference office this afternoon.
Morgan was one of six Hilltoppers to win their individual brackets, as West Liberty placed first out of 10 teams winning the John Summa Invitational hosted by Baldwin Wallace on Saturday. He went 4-0 to claim gold in the 174 division. Morgan started the day with a 17-4 decision and followed with 5-2 and 8-5 decisions to make the championship. Morgan won the title bout with a thrilling 3-2 decision over #9 nationally ranked (DIII) Colby Morris, of Waynesburg.
The MEC Wrestler of the Week award is presented by The Health Plan.
Morgan is the third Hilltopper to earn the award this year joining
Blake Miller (Dec. 20) and
Ty McGeary (Nov. 21).
West Liberty will be back in action on Friday competing in its final dual of the season at Davis & Elkins.
