Indianapolis, Ind. – The NCAA released the second set of regional rankings for DII volleyball on Wednesday afternoon, giving schools the first look of where they stand 1-10 in their respective regions. West Liberty University is making their fifth consecutive appearance in the poll after being listed under consideration a week ago and appearing in all three weekly rankings a year ago en route to their first-ever NCAA Division II Tournament berth.
Currently the Hilltoppers hold an overall record of 22-7 and are 10-3 in Mountain East conference play. The Black & Gold have already posted wins over IUP (3-2), Charleston (3-2), and Fairmont State (3-0 and 3-1) who also appear in this week's rankings. WLU will close the regular season on Friday night at Wheeling with a chance to share the MEC North Division Championship.
The Atlantic Region is made up of three conferences, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the Mountain East Conference (MEC), and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Each league's tournament champion will receive an automatic bid, with the remaining five teams being selected on an at-large basis. In today's release the MEC led the way with five teams being represented, followed by the PSAC with four, and the CIAA with one.
The NCAA will release one more poll with the teams being ranked 1-10 before selection day, with them being released Wednesday, November 15. The NCAA Volleyball selection show will then be streamed online at NCAA.com at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 20.
The NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament will be hosted by the No. 1 seed, November 30-December 3. The winners of all eight regions will then advance to the championship site, the UPMC Events Center in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, taking place December 7-9.
