Hilltoppers Earn Fifth and Tenth Place Finishes at Bill Lennox Cross Country Invitational

New Castle, Pa. – The West Liberty men's and women's cross country teams combined for eight top-50 finishes at the Bill Lennox Cross Country Invitational as the teams earned fifth and tenth place finishes respectively. Philip White led the men's team by tying a career-best time of 25:42 for a sixth place finish, and Lacey Dimit earned a 28th place finish to lead the women's team with a time of 24:39.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU MEN'S XC
  • The West Liberty men's cross country team saw three runners place within the top-20 of the 159 runner field, led by Philip White, Robert Allen, and Francis Toohey.
  • White matched his career-best time set at the Lock Haven Invitational two weeks ago, running to a time of 25:42 with a sixth place finish. He averaged a time of 5:11 per mile.
  • Allen and Toohey added top-20 finishes in 17th and 20th respectively with times of 26:25 and 26:32 respectively. They averaged mile times of 5:19 and 5:21 in the meet.
  • Jasper Brown ran to a 37th place finish with a time of 27:21, and averaged a 5:31 per mile.
  • In his second meet of the season, Brody Cermak ran to a season-best time of 28:05 and a 47th place finish, averaging a 5:40 mile pace.
  • After running to a career-best time two weeks ago, Patrick Childers bested that time by five seconds today. He ran to a time of 30:18 and averaged 6:07 per mile to earn a 69th place finish.
  • Tyler Davis rounded out the Hilltopper lineup with a 74th place finish, averaging 6:25 per mile for a time of 31:51 on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU WOMEN'S XC
  • The West Liberty women's cross country team placed three runners within the top-50 of the 150 runner field, led by Lacey Dimit, Shania Keene, and Ally Hicks.
  • The Hilltopper freshman, Dimit, paced the team with a time of 24:39 and a 28th place finish, averaging a time of 6:37 per mile.
  • Keene was the lone senior in the lineup for WLU. She averaged a mile time of 6:45 on her way to a 36th place finish and time of 25:08.
  • Hicks led a trio of sophomores who rounded out the lineup for the Black & Gold as she finished 48th overall with a time of 25:38, averaging a mile time of 6:53.
  • Morgan Lesnansky and Emma Flynn rounded out the West Liberty lineup with times of 26:01 and 28:04 respectively, finishing 59th and 76th overall. Lesnansky averaged a mile pace of 7:00, while Flynn averaged 7:32 per mile.

UP NEXT
West Liberty will compete at the Mountain East Conference championships next on Saturday, October 21. The Women's 6K race will be first at 9:30 a.m., followed by the men's 8K race at 10:30 a.m. at the Crispin Golf Course at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling.
