WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - West Liberty's standout defensive back Shon Stephens has been named to the D2Football.com Elite 100 list, announced by the organization on New Year's Day.

A junior transfer, Stephens had a successful first season in the Black and Gold ending the year tied for the Division II lead with eight interceptions. The Bakersfield, Calif. native recorded interceptions in each of the first three games, including an MEC record four interceptions in one game and two pick sixes. He was also the main kick returner for the Hilltoppers, averaging 21.7 yards per return with a long return of 61 yards and 155 total return yards in the homecoming game versus Wheeling.

Stephens was one of three defensive backs selected to first team and was one of five MEC players to earn the honor.

The D2Football.com Elite 100 was selected by D2Football.com with input from coaches and scouts from around the country. The Elite 100 has been compiled each year since its inception in 2000.
