YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Another distance school record fell Friday as the West Liberty University men's indoor track and field team competed at the Youngstown State University Mid Major Invitational.
The distance medley relay team of
Michael Harriman,
Arthur Williams,
Tavian Richardson, and
Danah Phillips posted a time of 10:07.26 breaking the previous school record set last February by just over five seconds. The distance medley relay is a four-runner relay that features different distances for each runner. Harriman led the group off taking the 1200m trek, Williams handled the 400m sprint, then Richardson took leg three running 800m, and Phillips finished it off with eight laps totaling 1600m.
Freshman
Hunter Patterson placed sixth in the 60m dash, posting a 6.96, his second sub-seven of his young career after setting the school record (6.89) in his first race in early December.
Daminn Cunningham had a long jump of 6.99m (22ft, 11.25in) finishing in eighth place out of 52 jumpers.
Gage Patterson was three spots back in the final standings with a 6.68m (21ft, 11in) leap in his final attempt.
Jonathan Stout competed in four of his seven events in the heptathlon, which will finish up tomorrow. Friday's events featured the 60m (8.20), high jump (1.48m), long jump (foul), and shot put (5.29m).
Gary Braithwaite tossed a 12.11m (39ft, 8.75in) in the weight throw leading the Hilltoppers.
