CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The West Liberty University volleyball team continued their strong play at the Cedarville Invite this morning with a 3-0 sweep of Central State.
The Hilltoppers improved their season record to 4-3 and will have a perfect weekend on the line later today.
Kaija Sydlowski led the attack with 10 kills in a balanced, yet dominating performance by the Black and Gold. Freshman
Liv McAtee added nine kills to the offensive efforts. West Liberty totaled 44 kills on 90 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage.
Laura Gamel passed a match-high 21 assists.Â
Defensively, Â the Hilltoppers held Central State to a .045 hitting percentage.
Nyia Setla paced the defense with 14 digs on the back line.
The Hilltoppers broke open set one with a 7-point run to take a 13-6 lead and never looked back. They scored seven of the last eight points on their way to a 25-13 opening set victory.
In set two, the Black and Gold repeated the dominance with a 25-12 win. Six straight points midway through put them in control of the set by making the score 14-6.
West Liberty will look to finish their weekend at Cedarville with a perfect record later today at 2:00 pm when they take on Seton Hill.Â
