Box Score 1 | Box Score 2     MASON, Ohio – The West Liberty University baseball team dropped a neutral field doubleheader to Pitt-Johnstown here Saturday afternoon at Prasco Park outside of Cincinnati.
    Coach Eric Burkle's Hilltoppers (0-10) fell to the Mountain Cats (4-3) by a 6-2 count in the opener before taking a 7-6 loss in the second game.
    West Liberty had to hit the comeback trail early in the nightcap as UPJ jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first two innings. The Black and Gold answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth but Pitt-Johnstown scored twice in the top of the fifth to carry a 7-3 lead into the seventh inning.
    The Hilltoppers took advantage of some shaky Mountain Cat fielding to make things interesting, scoring three times and putting the go-ahead runs on base only to fall one run short following a game-ending strikeout.
    Ryan Talbert and Connor Ferguson each singled and drove in a pair of runs for WLU while Kayne McGee and Jarrett Delbrugge added RBI base knocks.
    In the opener, the teams traded zeros for the first three innings before Pitt-Johnstown broke through with three runs in the top of the fourth. The Mountain Cats added two more in the fifth and another in the sixth to all but put the game out of reach. West Liberty notched single tallies in the sixth and seventh frames but it was too little, too late.
    McGee and Talbert accounted for half of West Liberty's 8 hits with McGee pounding out a double and single and Talbert chipping in with a pair of singles. Ferguson and Brad Goodyear each singled and drove in a run.
    The teams return to Prasco Park on Sunday for another afternoon twinbill.
