11/17/2022 11:00:00 AM

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - For the first time in program history, two Hilltoppers have been named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Atlantic Region Teams. West Liberty's libero Nyia Setla earned first team honors and middle blocker Ruby Countryman picked up a spot on the second team.

After earning Mountain East Conference Libero of the Year, Nyia Setla adds the first team all-region honor to the awards shelf. The sophomore from Northville, Mich. posted double-digit digs in 32 of the 33 matches this season, with the lone single-digit outing being the season opener, and put up 20+ 17 times, then had five 30+ outings. Setla enters the NCAA Tournament tomorrow ranking second in the country in digs (691) and third in the per set average of 5.81.

Ruby Countryman led the Hilltoppers in kills and blocks earning a spot on second team all-region after being named second team All-MEC in the conference awards last week. The sophomore from Indianapolis, Ind. has made 129 blocks on the season. 38 of the blocks were solo, the most in the MEC and tied for third-most in Division II. Countryman slammed 277 kills for an average of 2.33 per set and produced 3.05 points per set for the Black and Gold offense while playing and starting all 33 matches.

It is the first all-region honor for both Setla and Countryman in their careers.

West Liberty plays in its first NCAA Tournament in program history tomorrow against Clarion in Erie, Pa. at 2:30 pm. Live coverage links can be found here.
