WHEELING, W.Va. - The West Liberty University volleyball team dropped a three-set match this evening at Wheeling.
The Cardinals (12-6, 5-0) stormed out of the gates scoring the first six points and kept their distance on way to a 25-20 opening set victory. The Hilltoppers (12-8, 2-3) battled set two to a one point deficit midway through, 13-14, but Wheeling struck for five straight points to take control and coasted to a 25-18 win. Wheeling closed it out with a dominating set three that featured the first 11 points being won by the Red and Black.
The Hilltoppers were held to a .050 hitting percentage, the lowest of the season.
Kaija Sydlowski led the limited offense with 13 kills and three aces, while
Kirsten Bogunovich dished out 17 assists.
Nyia Setla collected 17 digs on the back line, while
Ruby Countryman charted four blocks at the net.
West Liberty is set to spend the weekend at home with matches on Friday and Saturday. Glenville State is the first guest into the ASRC, first serve is scheduled for 6 pm.
