PITTSBURGH – The West Liberty University women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season here Saturday in a 7-0 setback against No. 5-ranked Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford.
The debuting Tartans, a perennial NCAA Division III power, swept the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and went on to win all six singles matches to complete the sweep.

Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers didn't go away quietly.
Luisa Agudelo and Jacqueline Pena-Aceves battled CMU's Alex Iordache and Ola Wojciak to the wire at No. 2 doubles before coming out on the short end of an 8-6 score.
The match of the day came at No. 1 singles where the Black and Gold's
Gemma Cliffe locked horns with the Tartans' Lindy Cornwall.
A service break gave Cornwall a 6-4 win in the opening set before Cliffe squared the match with a tiebreaker win in the second set. The two standouts traded points throughout the final tiebreaker before Cornwall emerged with a hard-earned 10-8 win.
West Liberty returns home to host Seton Hill (Pa.) in a March 13 match at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
