Box Score 1 | Box Score 2     GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The West Liberty University baseball team split a Mountain East Conference doubleheader at Glenville State on Saturday.
    Coach Eric Burkle's Hilltoppers hammered out an 11-4 win in the opener before falling to the Pioneers by a 11-0 tally in the finale.
    West Liberty (3-6, 1-1) hammered out 15 hits in the opening game win, taking a 5-1 lead after the first three innings and putting the Pioneers (5-2, 1-1) away with five more runs in the top of the fourth.
    Kaden Blomquist led the way with a four-hit game, pounding out three singles and a double to chase three runs across the plate. Ty Helmke also had three RBIs with a double and a single while Alex Salvatori, Chad Matthus and Sam Leach also had multi-hit games. Jason Schutte applied the coup de grace with a grand slam to highlight the five-run fourth inning.
    Justin Pennybacker went the distance on the mound for the complete-game win, striking out six while giving up only two walks.
    Glenville turned the tables in the second game, scoring twice in each of the first two innings and never taking their foot off the gas in a 12-hit barrage. Jesse Weathers tossed a five-hit complete-game shutout, striking out six and walking two. Helmke had two of WLU's six hits.
    The Hilltoppers are back on the road Tuesday with an afternoon doubleheader at Concord.
