Box Score 1 | Box Score 2     JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The unbeaten Carson-Newman University baseball team swept a doubleheader from West Liberty here Sunday afternoon as the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex.
    Coach Eric Burkle's Hilltoppers (0-3) came up short by scores of 8-2 and 5-2 against the Eagles, who improved to 7-0 on the young season with the two seven-inning wins.
    In the opener, Carson-Newman broke up a tight contest by batting around to plate six runs in the bottom of the third. The Hilltoppers were held to just four hits but bunched three of them together to score both of their runs in the top of the fourth. Bailey McGrath capped the uprising with WLU's first RBI single of the year.
    The second game was scoreless heading into the bottom of the third but the Eagles opened the frame with three straight singles and Mike Wroth followed with a grand slam over the left field wall.
    West Liberty struck back in the top of the fourth when Tyler Ramsay doubled and jogged home on a two-run circuit blast by Brian Campbell but the Black and Gold could get no closer.
    Campbell had a single to go along with his home run while Jared Houser added a pair of base knocks for the visitors, who finished with a season-high seven hits.
    The Hilltoppers won't return to action until Feb. 21 when they take on Malone (Ohio) in a 1 p.m. doubleheader in Thomasville, N.C.
