WASHINGTON, Pa. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team didn't drop a set in rolling to a season-opening shutout win against Washington & Jefferson here Friday at the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers took control early and never looked back, sweeping all three doubles matches to carry a 3-0 lead into singles play.
Anita Ponti and
Gemma Cliffe notched an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles while
Carleyah McLean and
Luisa Agudelo were pitching an 8-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles. Nathalia Valencia and Alex Olson coasted to an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
Valencia, Cliffe, Ponti, Agudelo, Olson and
Katie Loader all breezed to straight-set wins in singles play to wrap up the victory.
