WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – After missing the entire 2018 season due to injury, Saturday's season opener against Wheeling can't come soon enough for West Liberty University sophomore defensive end
Kenyon Felder.
The 6-3, 250-pounder from Temple Hills, Md. exploded onto the Mountain East Conference scene two years ago when he was earned MEC Defensive Player of the Week honors in his first collegiate start.
Felder's big moment came in the 2017 regular season finale against NCAA Division II playoff-bound Fairmont State. He was charted with eight tackles, including three tackles-for-loss and a pair of quarterback sacks as the Hilltoppers just missed upsetting the Falcons, coming away on the short end of a 13-7 count.
Felder spoke with Todd Ullom, the voice of the Hilltoppers, about the excitement surrounding the season opener, the potential of West Liberty's veteran defensive unit and his personal goals and expectations for the 2019 season.
