Football | 8/23/2019 3:47:00 PM

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The first NCAA Division II Academic All-American in West Liberty football history, Brandon Morrison is ready to put his intellect and versatility to good use in his final season on the hilltop.
A 5-10, 200-pound safety from Huntington, W.Va., Morrison started every game a year ago in the Hilltopper secondary. He ranked among the team leaders with 32 tackles, two interceptions and a fumble recovery while making an even bigger statement in the classroom.
Morrison graduated with an honors degree in Criminology and is currently working toward his master's degree at West Liberty. A Mountain East Conference All-Academic Team selection, Morrison also earned national Academic All-America honors.
The Hilltopper veteran spoke with Todd Ullom, the voice of the Hilltoppers, just before one of WLU's preseason workouts. Morrison told Ullom that his ability to play any of the safety or cornerback spots in the secondary has allowed him to help several of the newcomers get past the initial learning curve. He also talked about getting ready for his last year of football and the camaraderie that has grown up among the veteran Hilltopper secondary.
