Box Score ELKINS, W.Va. – West Liberty University's regionally-ranked women's tennis team rolled to its 14
th win of the season here Tuesday, coasting past Davis & Elkins by a 5-2 count in non-conference action on the D&E campus.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (14-6) took two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point and followed that up with wins in four of the five singles matches to take down the Senators (4-15). The Black and Gold are playing without a No. 6 singles entry due to injury.
Raissa Wagner and
Anita Ponti combined for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles with the No. 3 doubles tandem of
Laura Huwe and Alex Olson breezing to a 6-2 decision in the No. 3 slot.
Wagner,
Carleyah McLean and
Luisa Agudelo posted straight-set wins in singles play to lock up the decision for the visitors. Huwe provided the final margin with a three-set win at No. 3 singles.
Checking in at No. 7 in the latest ITA Atlantic Region rankings, the West Liberty women will be idle over the Easter weekend but return to action on April 24 when they host No. 6-ranked Salem International in a non-conference test at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
