WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The rising West Liberty University volleyball team picked up its third win in the last four matches here Tuesday night with a 3-1 victory against Charleston in Mountain East Conference action at the ASRC.
Coach
Kayla Mull's Hilltoppers (12-11, 4-4) took control early, sweeping the first two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-21. The Golden Eagles (8-16, 3-5) bounced back with a 25-20 nod in the third set and were able to fight off multiple match points in Set No. 4 before the Black and Gold prevailed, 28-26, to close up shop.
Junior
Madison Clayton had a strong night at the net with 11 kills and 4 blocks while freshman
Alissa Dickson backed Clayton with 10 kills and a pair of service aces.
Senior
Caitlin Clarke added 8 kills and 14 digs with fellow senior
Olivia Baumhoer contributing 7 kills and 3 blocks. Freshman
Kirsten Bogunovich made her presence felt with 6 kills, 13 assists, 7 digs and a pair of blocks. Senior
Kailee Cunningham had a team-high 30 digs while
Renee Lemke led the Hilltoppers with 27 assists.
The West Liberty women return to action on Friday when they host West Virginia State in a 7 p.m. match at the ASRC.
