    WHEELING, W.Va. – The West Liberty University wrestling team picked up a couple of impressive wins Sunday night but it wasn't enough to keep No. 7-ranked Wheeling Jesuit from pulling away to a 38-9 win in dual meet action at the McDonough Center.
    Coach Mitch Smith's short-handed Hilltoppers found themselves in an early hole as the host Cardinals picked up a forfeit at 141 after starting off the match with a first-period fall at 133 to grab a 12-0 lead.
    After West Liberty's Josh Ridgeway battled WJU's Tyler Alberts to the wire at 149 only to come away on the short end of a 6-4 decision, Josh Cornell put the Hilltoppers on the board.
    Cornell, a senior 157-pounder, and the Cardinals' Tyler Jenkins were tied at the end of regulation but Cornell delivered a takedown during the first tiebreaker to earn a 5-3 decision.
    Wheeling Jesuit won the next three bouts to put the match on ice but the Hilltoppers weren't finished.
    Ranked No. 9 nationally at 197 pounds, Logan Kemp dominated his match against Chase Logan from start to finish. The returning national qualifier opened the scoring with a takedown midway through the opening frame and rode out the period to take a 2-0 lead into the second frame.
    After a quick escape to start the second period, Kemp notched another takedown and went on to pin Logan at 4:28 of the period.
    The WLU mat squad returns to the ASRC on Saturday for another challenging dual meet against No. 14-ranked Ashland. First match is set for 2 p.m.
