PITTSBURGH –
Philip White posted another Top 10 finish and the West Liberty men's cross country team had four runners crack the Top 20 here in a strong performance at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational in Schenley Park.
Coach
Justin Simpson's men's team finished fourth in the 10-team race while the Lady Hilltopper harriers also ran well, placing fifth in a 9-team women's field.
White hit the finish line in a time of 27:05.95, less than a minute behind race winner Naveen Pai of the host Tartans.
Michael Harriman was 18th in 28:31.05,
Danah Phillips placed 19th in 28:32.15 and
Jared Ullom was 20th in a time of 28:40.75.
Carnegie Mellon (20) ran away with the team title with seven of the top nine finishers. Duquesne was a distant second at 79 with Point Park (96) barely edging out the Hilltoppers (100) for fourth place. California, Pa. (126) rounded out the top five.
Consistency was the key for the West Liberty women.
Hannah Ramirez led a virtual parade of Lady Hilltoppers across the line, finishing 30th in a time of 22:16.3.
Emily Louk (22:24.7) was 31st with
Grace Henley,
McKenzie Jack,
Jamie Fogle,
Ryan Wilson and
Amanda Theodoro all posting Top 40 finishes.
The WLU men's and women's teams return to Schenley Park on Oct. 20 for the NCAA Division II Pre-Regional Meet.
