INDIANAPOLIS – The West Liberty University women's volleyball team made history this week when the Lady Hilltoppers checked in at No. 10 in this season's first set of NCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings.
It's the first regional ranking in school history for Coach
Kayla Mull and her rising Lady Hilltopper program, which improved to 19-8 on Tuesday with a 3-2 win at Slippery Rock.
The NCAA Division II regional ranking committee will release updated rankings each Wednesday through Nov. 7 leading up to the Nov. 11 announcement of this year's regional tournament field. This week's rankings reflect matches played through Sunday.
West Liberty is one of three Mountain East Conference teams to crack the Top 10. Gannon's defending Atlantic Region champions are No. 1 with perennial MEC power Wheeling Jesuit at No. 2. Shippensburg is third with Shepherd and Clarion rounding out the top five.
Seton Hill is next at No. 6 followed by California (Pa.), East Stroudsburg, Pitt-Johnstown and WLU.
Coach Mull and her Hilltoppers will be trying to lock up their third consecutive 20-win season on Friday night when the Black and Gold host Concord at the ASRC. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
