WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Centerburg (Ohio) High School volleyball standout Renee Lemke has signed to continue her athletic and academic careers at West Liberty University.
A 5-7 setter and defensive specialist, Lemke is a 2-time Ohio Division IV All-District selection who also earned back-to-back first-team berths on the All-Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference team during her junior and senior seasons.
She was honored as Centerburg's Most Valuable Player in the fall after wrapping up a stellar career with the Trojans. In addition to her high school exploits, Lemke plays for the Mintonette Sports Volleyball Club.
Hilltopper head coach Kayla Mull said she was impressed by the skill set her newest recruit will be bringing to the hilltop.
"Renee is a very athletic setter with great speed," Mull said. "She comes from a solid high school program and has played a lot of high-level volleyball with her club team.
"The fact that she also has a background as a defensive specialist is a big plus in terms of her versatility. Renee's speed and defensive abilities combined with her overall court intelligence will allow her to compete right away for a setting position when she gets to campus in the fall."
An outstanding student, Lemke plans to major in Medical Laboratory Science at West Liberty.
