Ohio Dominican Downs WLU Baseball

Box Score CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The regionally-ranked West Liberty University baseball team pounded out a dozen hits but it wasn't enough here Saturday afternoon as Ohio Dominican rolled to a 14-2 win in a scheduled 9-inning game at VA Memorial Stadium.
The debuting Panthers (1-0) jumped on Coach Eric Burkle's Hilltoppers (4-2) with four runs in the bottom of the third and added three more over the next two frames to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
Coby Eckstein got West Liberty on the board with an RBI single in the top of the sixth but ODU added a single tally in the seventh and put the game out of reach with five more in the bottom of the eighth.
Mike Adams, Nolan Marcus and Tyler Ramsay each had two singles for the Black and Gold while Ethan Estes cranked out a solo homer in the top of the ninth to conclude the scoring.
The Hilltoppers will try to rebound on Sunday when the teams return to the stadium for a noondoubleheader.
