Two Wins for West Liberty Women

The West Liberty University women's tennis team completed an impressive southern swing on Saturday with a 6-3 victory at UVa-Wise.
Coach Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (3-0, 2-0) had opened their long trek south on Fridaywith a 9-0 blanking of Concord in Athens.
Saturday's match was by far the more competitive of the two but West Liberty jumped on the host Cavaliers (1-1, 0-1) right out of the gate, sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into singles action.
West Liberty closed out the victory with three more wins in singles play to remain unbeaten in Mountain East Conference action.
Rhiannon James and Laura Huwe picked up the win at No. 1 doubles for the Black and Gold while Raquel Cabero and Alaina Pauley gutted out a 9-7 nod at No. 2 doubles. Kate Pinchuk and Ana Berbel teamed up the win at No. 3 doubles.
Cabero, Huwe and Puga earned the singles wins for WLU.
The Hilltoppers completely dominated the short-handed Mountain Lions on Friday, losing a total of just two games in the entire match against a Concord team that had only four players in uniform.
James, Puga, Pauley and Pinchuk posted singles wins for West Liberty, which also picked up forfeits at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Cabero and Pinchuk combined for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles while Berbel and Lisa Nachtwey pounded out an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. The Hilltoppers got a forfeit win at No. 3 doubles.
The West Liberty women will head to Erie, Pa. next weekend to compete in the ITA Atlantic Regional.
