Box Score 1 | Box Score 2  CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Liberty University baseball team pounded out two dozen hits and got a pair of complete-game mound outings here Friday afternoon in sweeping a Mountain East Conference twinbill from Charleston at Triana Field.
   Coach Eric Burkle's Hilltoppers (17-7, 7-3) took a 5-3 nod in the opener and breezed past the Golden Eagles (7-18, 3-7) by a 9-2 count in the finale.
   In the opener, Mark Smyth didn't allow an earned run while improving to 6-0 on the season with a complete-game four-hitter. Charleston took advantage of three WLU errors to score three unearned runs in the first three innings but Smyth blanked UC on two harmless singles the rest of the way.
   With the win, the senior righthander tied the school's career wins record held by former West Liberty ace Jim Monnot, who won 21 games at WLU from 1985 to 1988.
   The Hilltoppers never trailed in the opener, jumping on the Golden Eagles for three runs in the top of the first and adding single runs in the second and fourth frames.
   Mike Adams had two singles and an RBI while D.J. Busby and Justice Jackson also had multi-hit games. Ethan Estes and Jordon Meyer each chipped in with RBI base knocks.
   Reigning NCAA Division II National Pitcher of the Week Greg Stagani went the distance for the win in the second game, striking out eight while issuing just two walks in the scheduled 9-inning affair.
   Tim Hughes had three singles and an RBI while Nolan Marcus chased home four WLU runs with a double and a single.  Busby and Clay Francis each singled twice and drove in a run while Adams helped out with an RBI double.
   West Liberty returns to the Charleston area on Sunday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader at West Virginia State.
