Box Score 2 ATHENS, W.Va. – The West Liberty University baseball team saw its six-game winning streak snapped here Saturday when host Concord swept a non-conference doubleheader by scores of 5-4 and 10-1.
Coach
Eric Burkle's Hilltoppers (8-3) saw a thrilling seventh-inning rally fall just short as the Black and Gold plated three runs in their final at-bat only to see the Mountain Lions (5-8) hang on for the one-run win.
Michael Adams had two singles for West Liberty while
Tim Hughes and
Yale Hughes each had a double and an RBI. Jordon Meyer and
Coby Eckstein each singled and drove in a run while D.J. Busby added a double.
Concord jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings in the second game and WLU couldn't mount a comeback.
Ethan Estes had two singles and drove in the Hilltoppers' lone run in the top of the fourth.
