Hilltoppers Take Two From Glenville State

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The West Liberty University baseball team remained unbeaten in Mountain East Conference play by sweeping a doubleheader from Glenville State by scores of 7-4 and 5-0.
Coach Eric Burkle's Hilltoppers (8-1, 4-0) scored four runs in the top of the second in the opener and never looked back, burying the host Pioneers (1-15, 0-4) beneath an 11-hit barrage.
Ethan Estes pounded out a double and two singles while Nolan Marcus added a single and a double for the visitors. D.J. Busby had a huge game, driving in three runs with a pair of singles and Tim Hughes launched a solo home run. Justice Jackson and Jose Carranza each chipped in with RBI singles while six WLU pitchers held Glenville to just four singles.
Sean Pare took center stage in the second game, hurling a three-hit shutout to help the Black and Gold finish off the sweep. Pare struck out six and issued only two walks while yielding just three harmless singles.
Tim Hughes drove in a run with a double and a single while Jordon Meyer added two singles and two RBIs. Marcus weighed in with an RBI double.
West Liberty heads to Athens on Saturday for a noon doubleheader.
