STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The West Liberty University women's tennis team stepped out of conference play on Saturday and romped to a 9-0 victory at Franciscan University.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (6-3) didn't lose a set in spoiling Senior Day for the NCAA Division III Barons (10-4).
West Liberty swept the three doubles matches with
Rhiannon James and
Laura Huwe teaming up for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles and the pairing of
Raquel Cabero and
Alaina Pauley matching that with an 8-1 nod at No. 2 doubles. Kate Pinchuk and
Ana Berbel pitched an 8-0 shutout at No. 3 doubles.
James, Cabero, Huwe, Berbel and Pauley followed up their doubles success with straight-set wins in singles.
Andrea Puga also picked up a 6-0 6-2 win at No. 5 singles.
The Lady Hilltoppers head to Charleston on Friday for a 4 p.m. match against the University of Charleston.
