Lady Hilltoppers Drop Home Match to UC

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to the University of Charleston here Friday afternoon at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
Coach Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (6-4, 4-3) trailed just 2-1 after the doubles competition after Ana Berbel and Kate Pinchuk eased to an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles but the Black and Gold couldn't carry the momentum into singles action.
The Golden Eagles (8-1, 7-1) swept the top four singles matches to close out the win. Andrea Puga continued her strong season for WLU with a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles and Alaina Pauley nearly pitched a shutout with a brisk 6-0 6-1 nod at No. 6 singles.
The West Liberty women will be heading to Huntington next week for the MEC championship tournament, which gets under way on Friday at the Brian David Fox Tennis Center.
