BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – After helping lead West Liberty to a 28-12 victory against Urbana on Thursday night, senior tight end Daree' Goodwin has been selected as the Mountain East Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.

Goodwin, a 6-4, 230-pound senior who played his high school ball at nearby Wheeling Park High School, tied a career-high with 3 touchdown catches against the Blue Knights and went on to post the first 100-yard receiving game of his career with 5 catches for 115 yards.

All three of Goodwin's TD grabs were quick strikes from outside the red zone.

The converted wide receiver put the Hilltoppers ahead to stay on the first snap of the second quarter when he rose above a pair of Urbana defenders to pull down a 37-yard rainbow from QB Dakota Conwell in the back of the end zone.

Goodwin made it 14-0 just before halftime with another acrobatic grab, this one from 28 yards out. The Hilltopper veteran put the game out of reach, 28-6, in the fourth quarter when he pulled in a perfectly-thrown 23-yard fade route down the left sideline.

Shepherd's Jaylen Johnson was the MEC Defensive Player of the Week while Charleston's Brett Benes was the MEC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Goodwin is West Liberty's third Player of the Week honoree this season. Linebacker Garrett Vulcano and placekicker/punter Christian Morris were honored as Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, following the season-opening win against nationally-ranked Concord.

The Hilltoppers hit the road on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game at West Virginia Wesleyan.
