Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 AVON, Ohio – Notre Dame College swept a Mountain East Conference baseball doubleheader against West Liberty here Wednesday afternoon at All Pro Freight Field.
    The Falcons (8-4, 8-2) came from behind to open with a 4-3 victory in a 10-inning marathon before rallying again to hand Coach Eric Burkle's Hilltoppers (13-7, 9-5) a 15-5 setback in the finale.
    In the first game, the teams battled to 3-3 tie after seven innings, sending the game into extra frames.
    Notre Dame loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the 10th but WLU reliever Tory Fuscardo struck out Shane DeFranco. Unfortunately for the Hilltoppers, the winning run came across a few seconds later on a wild pitch.
    Bub Haddox led a 10-hit barrage for West Liberty with a triple and two singles. Jarrod Carranza pounded out a double and a single while Jon-Michael Brunner added a pair of singles. Tim Hughes doubled and drove in a run while Tim Mirandy chipped in with a double and an RBI.
    Two big innings made the difference for the Falcons in the second game as Notre Dame wiped out a 1-0 WLU third-inning lead with five runs in the bottom of the frame.
    The Hilltoppers scored in each of the next four innings to draw even again, 5-5, but the Falcons put the game away with 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth.
    Anthony Pierro had three hits and drove in a run for West Liberty while Hughes had a double, single and two RBIs. Haddox and Mirandy each doubled while Brunner had a single and an RBI.
    The Hilltoppers are scheduled to travel to Fairmont on Saturday for a 1 p.m. doubleheader with Fairmont State.
