Box Score WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University soccer team launched a staggering 42 shots at the Fairmont State goal Sunday afternoon but couldn't solve Falcon netminder Shawna Graham as Coach Barry Christmas' Hilltoppers settled for a scoreless draw at the West Liberty Soccer Complex. It was the fourth scoreless draw of the season for the Black and Gold.
The Hilltoppers (3-8-5, 3-6-5) dominated the run of play throughout but couldn't get the ball past the peripatetic Graham, who set a Mountain East Conference record with 20 saves in recording the shutout.
The MEC record for saves had been 17, set by West Liberty's Hannah Judkins in a 1-0 victory at the University of Charleston on Sept. 30, 2013. Fairmont (2-13-2, 2-11-2) had far fewer opportunities and wound up with the same result against Hilltopper netminder Lauren Hartnell, who made 4 saves on the day to keep the visitors off the board. The West Liberty women host West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday in a 2:30 p.m. match at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.
