CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's soccer team returns to the road Wednesday afternoon for a Mountain East Conference matchup against the University of Charleston at Welch Athletic Complex.

Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.

The Hilltoppers enter the match at 1-5-1 overall and 1-4 in MEC play after dropping a 2-0 decision to Davis & Elkins on Sunday at the West Family Athletic Complex. West Liberty battled through a scoreless first half before the Senators scored twice after halftime.

West Liberty has scored twice through its first seven matches, with both goals coming from Kylie Collins in the Hilltoppers' 2-0 victory at Wheeling on Sept. 13. Goalkeeper Kaisa Vale has played all 630 minutes in goal, recording 40 saves and two shutouts while posting a .755 save percentage.

The Hilltoppers will face a Charleston team that enters Wednesday's match at 2-3-2 overall and 2-1-2 in MEC play. The Golden Eagles are unbeaten in their last three matches, earning a 2-1 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan on Sept. 16 before playing to a 1-1 draw at Shawnee State on Sunday.

Charleston's recent draw at Shawnee State saw Sydney Crowe score in the 19th minute, while the Golden Eagles finished with a 25-7 advantage in shots and an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Crowe recorded her first goal of the season in the match.

Li-Lou Debaecker leads Charleston with two goals and four points on the season. Crowe has added one goal and an assist, while goalkeeper Ines Degli Esposti has played every minute in goal, recording 40 saves and a .755 save percentage.

Charleston opened the season with losses to Kutztown and Lock Haven before earning its first conference victory with a 3-1 win over Concord. The Golden Eagles also played West Virginia State to a 2-2 draw and defeated West Virginia Wesleyan, 2-1, before Sunday's draw at Shawnee State.

Wednesday marks the first meeting of the season between West Liberty and Charleston. Following the road trip, the Hilltoppers return home Sunday to host Shawnee State at the West Family Athletic Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
