WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team got its season off to a flying start on Sunday with a 9-0 blanking of Capital University at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
Coming off their fourth consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament bid, Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers didn't lose a set in breezing past the visiting Crusaders.

Emily Dawson,
Raquel Cabero,
Alex Barr, Kate Pinchuk and
Andrea Puga posted straight-set singles wins.
Howard and Cabero teamed up for the win at No. 1 doubles while Dawson and Barr pitched an 8-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles. Alaina Pauley and Lisa Nachtwey were victorious at No. 3 doubles.
The West Liberty women will be back in action on Tuesday when they host perennial NCAA Division III power Grove City in a 3:30 p.m. match at the Martin Complex.
