ATHENS, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team remained perfect in Mountain East Conference play on Saturday with a dominating 9-0 victory at Concord.
Coach Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (4-0, 2-0) wasted little time disposing of the host Mountain Lions.
Lauren Howard and Raquel Cabero combined for an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles with Emily Dawson and Alex Barr claiming an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles. With a forfeit at No. 3 doubles, West Liberty took a 3-0 lead into singles play.
Howard rolled to a 6-2 6-0 win at No. 1 singles while Dawson, Cabero, Barr and Kate Pinchuk didn't lose a game in sweeping their singles matches by 6-0 6-0 counts. Andrea Puga's forfeit win at No. 6 singles completed the sweep.
The Hilltoppers step out of conference play on Friday with a 4 p.m. match at Edinboro (Pa.).
