Box Score 2 URBANA, Ohio – The West Liberty University baseball team came out on the short end of 4-2 and 5-4 decisions hereSaturday as host Urbana swept a Mountain East Conference doubleheader.
Defense let Coach Eric Burkle's Hilltoppers (16-13, 14-9) down in the second game as only one of Urbana's five runs was earned. West Liberty picked up a pair of unearned runs in the top of the seventh to forge a 4-4 tie but a two-base throwing error and a pair of walks set up the Blue Knights' (11-7, 10-4) game-winning tally in the bottom of the frame. In the opener, Urbana broke up a 1-1 deadlock with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and a pair of Blue Knight hurlers held WLU to just four singles to close out the win. D.J. Busby had two of West Liberty's four hits.
The Hilltoppers will try to avenge Saturday's setbacks on Sunday when the teams return to Blue Knights Field for another 1 p.m. twinbill.
