After taking a 5-4 extra-inning loss in the opener, the Hilltoppers bounced back with a 5-3 win in the second game.
West Liberty snapped a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh with RBI singles by Dylan Pounds and Anthony Pierro to salvage the split.
Pounds drove in a pair of runs with two singles while Jon-Michael Brunner also had a pair of singles for WLU. Pierro and Tim Hughes each picked up RBIs on infield grounders during a three-run first inning.
Bruce Knisley got the mound win with three strikeouts and no walks in two innings of scoreless relief.
In the opener, the Falcons (4-8) scored on a passed ball to cap a 3-run sixth-inning rally that sent the game into extra innings before plating the winning run on a Hilltopper error with one out in the bottom of the eighth.
Pounds went 4-for-4 including a 2-run single in the top of the sixth to pace West Liberty at the plate. Tim Hughes and Jordan Meyer each clubbed solo homers to account for WLU's other two runs. Four Hilltopper pitchers scattered 4 singles and gave up only 2 unearned runs in taking the loss.
The Hilltoppers and Falcons will close out the weekend series with a single game on Sunday.
