WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University wrestling team delighted a home crowd at the ASRC Tuesday night by rolling to a 36-9 dual meet victory against Alderson-Broaddus.
Coach Brian Davis's Hilltoppers (2-1) bolted out to a quick start and the Battlers (1-12) never recovered.
Alderson-Broaddus, a first-year NCAA Division II program under the guidance of former Hilltopper All-American and assistant coach Mitch Smith, claimed its only win on the mat with an overtime decision at 184 pounds and picked up forfeit points at 149.
West Liberty will be back on the home mat tomorrow night in a much stiffer test when No. 11-ranked Mercyhurst (Pa.) rolls into the ASRC for a dual meet. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start.
