CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's soccer team notched its first Mountain East Conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon, blanking the University of Charleston by a 1-0 count on the Golden Eagles' pitch.
Junior striker Maci Hascak broke up a scoreless tie for Coach Barry Christmas's Hilltoppers (2-6-0, 1-4-0) in the 33rd minute when she pushed the ball past the UC keeper during a scramble in front of the Charleston net.
Sophomore keeper Hannah Judkins and the West Liberty back line took care of the rest, weathering a storm of 17 Golden Eagle shots on the day to post the shutout. Judkins was credited with 8 saves.
The Hilltoppers return home to host Shepherd on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at the West Liberty Soccer Complex.
