Box Score 2 WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – West Liberty's bats were as cold as the frigid wind whistling across Kovalick Field Saturday afternoon as Alderson-Broaddus swept a West Virginia Conference baseball doubleheader by scores of 9-1 and 4-2.
The Battlers (19-19, 14-15) scored in every inning but the sixth to take a wire-to-wire win in the opener. The Hilltoppers (18-22, 15-13) pushed across an unearned run with two out in the bottom of the seventh to avoid the shutout.
In the second game, Alderson-Broaddus scored two runs with two out in the top of the seventh to snap a 2-2 tie and complete the sweep.
The Hilltoppers were held to just three hits in the loss.
Tim Mirandy had an RBI triple while Henry doubled for the second straight game.
The teams return to Kovalick Field Sunday at 1 p.m. for a scheduled 9-inning game.
