SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The West Liberty University baseball team couldn't get their bats going Friday afternoon and lost a West Virginia Conference doubleheader at Shepherd by scores of 14-1 and 11-0.
The host Rams (11-12, 7-3) broke open a close game in the first contest with an 11-run uprising in the bottom of the fifth.
Andrew Henry's RBI single in the top of the second allowed the Hilltoppers (12-10, 10-3) to avoid the shutout as the visitors were held to just seven singles.
Shepherd scored in each of the first five innings to put the second game out of reach.
Taylor Snare had two of West Liberty's four hits.
The Hilltoppers and Rams return to the field on Saturday for a 9-inning game. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
