WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University volleyball team's four-match Mountain East Conference winning streak was snapped by league-leading Wheeling Jesuit Tuesday night in a 3-0 setback at the ASRC.
Coach Kayla Fetsko's Hilltoppers (11-15, 6-6) put up a good fight against the powerful Cardinals (25-5, 12-0), who have lost only 2 sets in a dozen MEC matches this season, before falling by scores of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-18.
Chelsea Bertie led West Liberty with a dozen kills while Peyton Miller added 6 kills, 3 blocks and a service ace. Chelsea Byrge had 19 assists and Paige Warner chipped in with 11 digs.
The Hilltoppers will try to bounce back on Friday when they travel to Notre Dame (OH) for a 7 p.m. match.
